In Patagonia the road is a recent arrival. Barely 30 years ago, much of this country was accessible only on foot,
on horseback or by boat. Locked between mountains and ocean. Now it is time to go off the beaten path through
this breath-taking and rugged South American region in your Porsche, while having the best available
accommodation every step of the way!

The adventure begins with an early arrival to Antofagasta - the coastal city of Chile. After landing, you are shuttled from the airport to your comfortable hotel. Following a short welcome, you will have time to adapt to the time and speed of South America.

A detailed briefing together with an introduction to the cars and navigation systems will take place. Enjoy the welcome dinner. Tomorrow the real driving begins!

Departing away east from Antofagasta means heading towards the Andes. Today you will encounter quite a change of vistas from coastal and green area to moon-like empty spaces and desert-like landscapes. A picnic-lunch to be enjoyed on the way.

The final destination is the Oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama, where all buildings are made of mud. The altitude has changed significantly however it is nothing compared to the following day and the climb through the Andes. The scenery will reveal its beauty even more during the sunset drive into the “moon-valley”. After dinner, relax and take a big breath before tomorrow the epic Andes drive starts.

Leaving San Pedro de Atacama, you will drive over the Andes via Sico Pass, an amazing and smooth climb to over 4,400 meters. Welcome to Argentina! Have a quick picnic-lunch at the small border up in the sky where we need to bring warm clothing. Now we descent from the ridge of the Andes down and back towards the much warmer “lowlands”. Fast and open gravel roads are on the menu first and later on the wide-open tarmac as we enter Salta, known as the start of the wine-land. Enjoy it! We invite you to test your cooking skills as you will create your own dinner tonight.

As we drive away from Salta, we will find natural beauty mixed with some towns where time seems to have stopped. We will drive by Quebrada de las Flechas with amazing slanted rock outcrops to both sides of the road. Hard to describe, must to be seen! Lunch is in a colonial hacienda well hidden in a small village on our route, zigzagging between beautiful vistas. Later on, probably the best gravel road so far as it features some stretches made of gravel and others made of sand or dirt. After a beautiful drive, Cafayate will open up its gates with traditional colonial attire and good local wine which you will get to know at our private wine tasting.

A late start today allows you to play a round of golf, do an optional horseback ride or simply to relax at the pool or in the spa. After a short lunch the drive starts.

Today there are mostly paved roads. Despite its 400 kilometers it will pass in a blink of an eye. We drive what many consider to be a part of the Pan-Americana highway. A network of roads over 25,800 kilometers which at some point used to be the Inca road that connected Cusco with the rest of the empire. The destination today is our own little wine estate where wine-tasting is on the menu together with local food.

Today we have the longest driving day of the whole adventure, so an early start is needed. But the good thing is - “fast roads are ahead” with smooth gravel sections to keep the “attention-level” high all the time. We stop for a quick “on the go lunch” at Ischigualasto Provincial Park to discover the UNESCO site “Valley of the Moon”, Natural Patrimony of the Humanity. In this area one of the oldest dinosaurs, Eoraptor Lunensis, was found. After lunch - long and straight roads all the way to Mendoza. Keep the speed up as at the wine estate does await with your own private dinner on the terrace of your room watching the sunset over the wine-yards and the Andes as back drop... Yes a long drive but again what a reward at the end and with the highest average speed of the entire adventure.

Today is all about relaxing. If you feel like it, a horseback ride to the nearby winery is on the menu. You can also take the bike or alternatively a shuttle will take you there. We will try their produce and enjoy lunch among the wines. If the desire is there, you can even mix your own wine blend (optional). The afternoon can be enjoyed at the nearby golf course or in the winespa. In the evening you will get an introduction to the local tango while the Argentinian barbecue is enjoyed.

After a day of relaxation, we will once again face to cross the majestic Andes. This time we re-enter Chile and pass by the city
of Santiago de Chile, in the search of the wine region on the other side of the mountain range. After a climb and glimpse of the highest mountain in the Americas “Aconcagua”, we will go down “Los Caracoles”, a winding road and definitely the driving highlight of the day. As big busy capitals are not our first choice we head directly south of Santiago where we will lodge in one
of the most spectacular properties in all of Chile. The whole roof structure is made out of titanium as a start! Enjoy the wine
and food in this warm but very fertile area. The evening will be marked with a close glance at the stars!

It would be a shame to leave this place too early, so a slow start into the day before we head for the Pacific Ocean. After days in the desert and altitude, it is such a pleasant feeling to be at the Pacific beach shores again. The route passes along the “fruit-road” over small narrow gravel mountain passes.

The navigation is a challenge today… Find your own spot to enjoy your small lunch – and enjoy the breeze. Our destination today is located in the best wine region of Chile. Here you will find our own beautiful wine ranch surrounded by more than a thousand hectares. You will feel united with the surroundings and enjoy a very unique hot-tub. A comprehensive wine tasting before we enjoy a local hunting menu.

DAY 10

Today we will not have the most spectacular driving day. It will be a long run on the Pan-American highway. A transit day. Feel free to do “fruit of the day shopping” along the road. Watch the speed as it is easy to go too fast today. When you approach your destination you will see the majestic Villarrica Volcano which also marks the beginning of Patagonia and here you enter an area known for its thermal activities. No need to stop and take pictures as soon as you see it… You will get very close to it.

The destination calls for relaxation – but those climbing the volcano tomorrow need to set some time aside to check the gear. Before dinner we will visit the onsite cheese farm and taste some local wine of course.

DAY 11

Pucon is an outdoor mekka full of activities so it might be hard to choose which ones suit your desire. If you simply feel like taking time off and enjoying the nature around the hotel then go fishing, kayaking, floating and much more as it is included in the hotel stay.

Or choose one of the optional activities:

Option 1:

Ready to climb the active volcano? You set of early to be first on the top. The four-hour hike will be guided by a professional team. You just need to be normal fit as no other skills are needed. The trip down is much faster as it is done on a small sledge! You return back to hotel at around 15:00h.

Option 2:

Take a helicopter to the well hidden hot springs and take a dip there. Afterwards do a loop over the Volcano where your fellow adventures fight to get to the top. Back to hotel where you have plenty of time to enjoy the spa or some of the other activities.

In the early evening we will go to visit a Mapuches home to see their view on life and explore

their food culture.

DAY 12

If you missed the hot springs and helicopter ride yesterday this can still be done this morning before departure due to another late start today. A beautiful drive to the Argentinian border awaits you. The contrasts at the border will surprise you. Not only the difference in road conditions but the entire experience through the front screen of your car. The lake area you are passing by makes it hard to choose where to stop for pictures and where just to keep on going. After nice smooth roads you will re-enter civilization which also means traffic - just go with the flow and arrive at the lakeside resort, ready for dinner.

DAY 13

Today is in the name of the outlaws! Leaving Bariloche to the south we will find a winding mountain path that will take us through the city of El Bolson, a classic hippie stronghold of the 70’s. We keep on going and will have lunch at the cabin that used to be Butch Cassidy’s home. Here you will have your share of the wild west! After lunch head to Esquel and the Los Alerces National Park where you will enjoy the big trees and hopefully find the well hidden waterfall.

The natural border between Argentina and Chile - the Andes will be crossed again but this time not short on breath. Our destination is in the mountains on Chile side which feels like a condor’s nest that looks towards a valley from above the clouds. You will love it.

Total KM: 365

Hotel at 406m a.s.l.

DAY 14

Today prepare for many hours behind the steering wheel. But some of the best and smoothest gravel and tarmac roads on the adventure awaits you. We start early and you will search for your own picnic point. Today is a perfect mix of following small and large rivers, shortly passing by the Pacific fjords and the huge lakes where you carve your way along the shores. We will meet a variety of mountain landscapes, winding roads, wooden buildings and many rural establishments.

Continue your endevour south and prepare for the glaciers… You might never come back down these roads again, but you will surely miss them when you sit in the usual traffic at home. Our destination is located near Lake Carreras, a huge mirror of water that shares it’s surface with Argentina. The hotel is located right at the shore of the Baker River which is the largest in Chile.

DAY 15

The reward of the long day yesterday, is relaxation today. In this area there is a very narrow accommodation selection, but you will surely enjoy what we here have found. From Boder Baker Lodge you can go on a guided hikes in the morning if you are fresh.

At midday we all take the speed boat to the glacier nearby where we all will enjoy our private lunch! If you want more glacier, there is an optional helicopter tour possible to get up close to the top of the glacier.

DAY 16

The morning gives you time to explore the area along the river, to go for a horse back ride or to get a well deserved massage. After an early lunch go back behind the steering wheel of your vehicle. In front of you fantastic roads and a rich wildlife. Keep your eyes open for the condors or local ostriches called “ñandu”. Also the bigger brother of the well known llama called “Guanaco” is found here in large numbers all over Patagonia.

Tonight will be fully authentic as you will share a working ranch with the family who have lived there for generations. Help to shear sheep and learn about life here in the middle of nowhere. Maybe not the highest star rated hotel you have seen in your life, but surely one of the most authentic ones.

Total KM: 307

Hotel at 362m a.s.l.

DAY 17

Wake up early with the animals and go straight on the stage with one of the highest average speeds of the entire adventure. You will pass by amazing lakes, but it is the straight open roads that you will remember clearly from this drive.

Our finish point is Puerto Banderas. A private boat will take us to our small hotel totally isolated from the rest of the world. From the safe board of our boat you will see the Upsala Glacier and all the surrounding ice-mountains embraced with frozen lakes and rivers. An excursion on a 4WD vehicle later today will let you see the glacier scenery from above, standing at the highest part of a cliff.

Surely tired after a long day you will enjoy a very nice dinner far from the real world.

DAY 18

We still have many amazing views to harvest on this adventure. But first we have to get back to our cars and for that we will jump on the boat again to return. Now we will enter Los Glaciares National Park which hosts one of the biggest and most amazing glaciers: glacier “Perito Moreno”. You can just stare at this immense ice field or choose to also go for a lakelevel view, paddling on a Kayak on a breathtaking adventure.

Now we head towards Chile on a gravel shortcut and the target for the day is Torres Del Paine National Park. This is a must on our to-do list. Its scenic beauty, glaciers and the imposing Andes mountains tempt even the timidest adventurer.

After some hard days there will be plenty of time to relax in the amazing hotel. Get your heart beat down in the spa or in front of the huge panoramic windows over-viewing the lake. Do not miss the dinner.

DAY 19

Despite you have had the most fantastic views of Torres Del Paine we have still not visited the National Park of the same name so far. This we will do today after breakfast and check out. A truly stunning and magnificent drive, with enough blends of mountain, lake, ice, and constant changes of weather and colours to keep anyone hypnotized for days. From the park we will take a short drive to the coastal city of Puerto Natales, where lunch will be enjoyed in special surroundings.

After a late lunch, we make a “run” to Punta Arenas on “ruta del fin del mundo”. Here you will not find the best and most romantic overnight stay of our Adventure, but we hope the seafood will make up for it. The “capital of the south” gives a good gateway to the Tierra del Fuego which we will enter tomorrow morning.

Total KM: 444

DAY 20

It is time to leave the continent therefore we need to get up early to catch the ferry across the “Magellan straight” between the South American continent and Tierra del Fuego, named by Hernando de Magallanes who saw the local indigenous people who inhabited the coasts of the island lighting their fires on the beach. We hit land at Porvenir - be ready to continue driving into this wild and once very hostile environment. We aim first for a nice rustic lunch at an estancia. Here we shall try our skills as sheep herders but luckily we have dogs with us. After lunch we to go see the nearby King Penguin colony who decided to move here just ten years ago.

From here we start crossing the island. The selection of award winning accommodation here is very limited instead we choose one of the most southern hosteria in Chile. They have a beaver family close by so we will hike to see if we can spot them. Tired but full of new impressions we have a big seafood barbecue on our own terrace as we have the entire place for ourselves.

DAY 21

We set off early today with the direction of Ushuaia. We cross together the last border and from here simply enjoy the last gravel kilometers. After days of very dry and almost tree free areas you will suddenly enter a beautiful forest - it is such a welcoming feeling so far south.

We go to “the end of the southern most public road in the world”. Your normal navigation system would have said: “YOUR HAVE REACHED YOUR DESTINATION” - YES YOU DID IT!

A late lunch with a glass of champagne should be allowed by now! On the way back in convoy we will see some of the special places within the park and you will have the possibility to get your passport stamped this far south... Tired and proud we head back to the small hotel right at the coast. A special dinner is waiting here at the end of the world.

DAY 22

Today we will say “see you next time” and make sure you get safely onwards or alternatively take some extra days to explore the area. There is a wide selection of attractions, for instance you can take a boat into the fjords. The sea-life is the highlight with the huge mountains as backdrop, where lunch will be served on the boat. Even a special permit can obtained to enter the Penguin Island so you can walk among these unique birds!

If there is a desire it is possible to go on hikes or play a round of golf on the most southern golf course in the world - but maybe it is time just to relax in the spa or hot-pools?
