BEYOND ADVENTURE
PATAGONIA - RIDE THE ANDES
In Patagonia the road is a recent arrival. Barely 30 years ago, much of this country was accessible only on foot, on horseback or by boat, locked between mountains and ocean. Now is the time to go off the beaten path through this breathtaking and rugged South American region in your Porsche, while having the best available accommodation every step of the way!

BEYOND ADVENTURE PATAGONIA –
Patagonia - the vast region discovered and named by Ferdinand Magellan is sparsely populated and at the southern end of the South American continent. The diversity of landscapes and geographical altitudes are the absolute highlights of this region. A stunning mixture of endless and remote gravel and tarmac roads paired with breathtaking landscapes, rough nature, windswept plains, untamed coastlines, dazzling glaciers, wine areas, incredible king penguin colonies - this will be yours to explore and discover with us.
Your journey starts in the most southern point of the South American continent at the end of the world in Tierra del Fuego and Ushuaia, Argentina. Over 14 days you will set your footprints until you reach Santiago de Chile while crossing the border between Argentina and Chile several times. As though the route with its diverse roads is not already epic in itself, experience this self-drive adventure in South America’s most remote territories in not just any 4x4 but our exceptional and specially prepared Porsche 911 KALMAR RS or Porsche Cayenne KAMAR CS. Cars you definitely do not usually see much in this part of the world and on those roads..
Remember - this is an adventure which is far from ordinary and starts where others stop. It’s fair to say that by choosing Beyond Adventure Patagonia, a wealth of unforgettable sights from behind the steering wheel of
a Porsche is guaranteed.

This life-long passion has led to an extensive network. Jan has bent the limits for automotive challenges for over 20 years and even set world records in the process.
INDIVIDUAL APPROACH
For us the experience must be distinctive – we supply the best service wherever we go but never lose the flexibility and individual approach. Therefore have we developed an unique classic rally-style driving concept for Beyond Adventure, not competing for the fastest time but instead for the most precise timing. This means you drive and navigate by yourself independently. Of course, the support team is always close by and for the most challenging stages, the entire group stays together.
YOUR TEAM
The passion for adventures is deep within our vastly experienced event team. We always aim for the best possible comfort and always ensure you are never alone. In case of an emergency, break down or a simple puncture, there is a solution assisted by the Beyond Adventure team. So, although you drive solo, you are never alone, even in the most remote areas. On special adventures a Beyond Adventure paramedic is present to ensure medical assistance in an unlikely emergency. The same goes for vehicle issues if needed a specially trained technician is on site.
For all Beyond Adventures the team always includes a local guide to explain about the area and inform about local habits and traditions, simply to widen your horizon – as Hans Christian Andersen said: “to travel is to live.” Behind the scenes, a team of travel experts is on alert from start to finish following your progress via GPS tracking for your safety and comfort – always ready to support. The experience starts already when signing in, from that moment you can always rely on our support.
Our adventure starts at the arrival airport. From here all is taken care of all the way to the departure airport. Get ready to explore the world you never knew existed... The extraordinary world!
Let the adventure begin,
Jan Kalmar

DAY 1
The adventure begins at the end of the world in Ushuaia, Argentina – after landing, you are shuttled from the airport to your hotel so you can relax after a long travel and can adapt to the time and speed of South America.
In the evening after a short welcome a relaxed Welcome Dinner at the hotel will follow and you will have time to get to know the entire team you will share this unforgettable experience with.

DAY 2
Today is all about getting to know the route and of course your car and all the equipment. In addition, we will introduce you to some easy “self-help” solutions and important emergency procedures. In the afternoon and before tomorrow the driving starts, we take the time to further explore this part of the world.
Look forward to the first highlight - a boat ride into the fjords where you can spot the sea-life with the huge mountains as backdrop. A good lunch will be served on the boat. And as this is a Beyond Adventure it does not stop here! We have a special permit to enter the Penguin Island so you can walk amongst these unique birds!
The boat will be waiting to take you back close to the hotel where we walk the last meters back.
Enjoy the dinner at the restaurant Kalma(r) where the local ingredients will be mixed in a very special way. Tomorrow the real driving adventure begins!

DAY 3
We set off early today with the direction North. We cross together the first border and simply enjoy the first kilometers on gravel roads - be aware some of the hardest terrains on the planet will follow the next days, therefore it is time to get accustomed to the driving and the vehicles. Always keep focus high and look out for the amazing wildlife close to the road and sometimes on it.
The selection of award-winning accommodation here is very limited instead we choose one of the most southern hosteria’s in Chile. They have a beaver family close by so we will hike to see if we can spot them. Tired but full of new impressions we will have a big barbecue on our own terrace.
Total KM: 383

DAY 4
Today we get up early and explore Tierra del Fuego further and we start crossing the island. We aim for a nice rustic lunch at a local estancia. Try your skills as sheep herders and luckily we have dogs with us. After lunch we to go see the nearby King Penguin colony who decided to move here just ten years ago.
Be ready to continue driving into this wild and once very hostile environment. Before it is time to leave the island and catch the ferry across the ‘Magellan Straight’ between the Tierra del Fuego and the South American continent, named by Hernando de Magallanes who saw the local indigenous people who inhabited the coasts of the island lighting their fires on the beach.
Our destination of the day the ‘capital of the South’ Punta Arenas. Here you will not find the best and most romantic overnight stay of our Rally, but we hope the seafood will make up for it.
Total KM: 253

DAY 5
After breakfast, we make a “run” on the “Ruta del fin del mundo” to the coastal city of Puerto Natales, where lunch will be enjoyed in special surroundings.
From there we will head to the Torres Del Plaine National Park. Check out a truly stunning and magnificent drive with enough blends of mountain, lake, ice, and constant changes of weather and colors to keep anyone hypnotized for days.
After so many impressions get your heartbeat down and relax in the spa or in front of the huge panoramic windows overviewing the lake of an amazing hotel.
Total KM: 444

DAY 6
We luckily still have many amazing views to harvest on this adventure. Today we are heading towards Argentina on more gravel roads and the target for the day is Puerto Bandera, a small harbor within the glacier delta close to the Los Glaciares National Park which hosts one of the biggest and most amazing glaciers -“Perito Moreno”. We will take a 1-hour boat ride to enjoy the breathtaking view from the glacier lake side. After taking the opportunity to hike to the top of this immense ice field before heading to the hotel close by.
The boat will do a loop close the amazing Upsala glaciers and all the surrounding ice-mountains embraced with frozen lakes and rivers. Surely tired after a long day full of scenic beauty and glaciers you will enjoy a very nice dinner far from the real world.
Total KM: 244

DAY 7
Today you get back in the cars and look forward to the stage with one of the highest average speeds of the entire adventure. You will pass by amazing lakes, but it is the straight open roads that you will remember clearly from this drive. Tonight will be fully authentic and non-luxury as you will share a working ranch with the family who have lived there for generations. They will show how life is here in the middle of nowhere. Maybe not the highest-star-rated hotel you have seen in your life, but surely one of the most authentic ones.
Total KM: 404

DAY 8
Get up early “with the animals”, have a quick breakfast, and go back behind the steering wheel of your Porsche. In front of you await fantastic roads and rich wildlife. Keep your eyes open for the condors or local ostriches called “ñandu”. Also, the bigger brother of the well-known llama called “Guanaco” is found here in large numbers. Continue your endeavor and prepare for more glaciers…
You might never come back down these roads again, but you will surely miss them when you sit in the usual traffic at home after your return. Our destination today is located near Lake Carreras, a huge mirror of water that shares its surface with Argentina, and near the shore of the Baker River which is the largest river in Chile. The afternoon gives you time to explore the area on your own.
Total KM: 388

DAY 9
Today is a relaxation day. In this area, there is a very narrow accommodation selection, but you will surely enjoy what we here have found. You can go on a guided hike in the morning if you are fresh or just relax and enjoy nature and its surroundings.
At midday, we all take the speed boat to explore the spectacular nature nearby where we all will enjoy our private lunch!
If you want a unique glacier view, there is an optional helicopter tour possible to get up close to the top of the glacier.
Total KM: 0

DAY 10
Today offers full action. A real driver’s day with possibly the best gravel and tarmac roads on the entire Adventure awaits you. We start early and you will search for your own picnic point. Following small and large rivers, shortly passing by the Pacific fjords and the huge lakes where you carve your way along the shores. We will meet a variety of mountain landscapes, winding roads, wooden buildings and many rural establishments. The night will be enjoyed in a family-run lazy fishing lodge so guess the menu.
Total KM: 551
DAY 11
Today is in the name of the outlaws and Butch Cassidy! The natural border between Chile and Argentina - the Andes will be crossed again but this time not short on breath. Leaving to the north we head to Esquel and the Los Alerces National Park where you will enjoy the big trees and hopefully find the well-hidden waterfall. We keep on going and will have a late lunch at the cabin that used to be Butch Cassidy’s home.
Here you will have your share of the wild-west! After lunch, we will find a winding mountain path that will take us through the city of El Bolson, a classic hippie stronghold of the ’70s. Tonight you will finally get the full South American experience with only a canvas between you and the stunning skies. Do not expect a small cold tent, but a top level camp with in-tent showers. Be assured that something special awaits you as there are many activities possible.

DAY 12
This morning all who wish may join an exciting rafting experience before getting behind the steering wheel. Your drive today will be through the lake area, and it will be hard to choose where to stop for pictures and where just to keep on driving. After traffic and civilization, you will enjoy nice smooth roads.
Just go with the flow and arrive at our next stop, If you are into horseback riding here will be great opportunities to ride the vast fields on a Creole horse, as the gauchos have always done in these latitudes.
Total KM: 347

DAY 13
A beautiful drive to the Chilean border awaits, and you will be surprised by many contrasts. Despite being a short driving day. Not only the difference in road conditions but the entire experience through the front screen will blow you away. The landscape changes radically after crossing the Andes and the horizon expands. We arrive in the afternoon and the destination calls for relaxation – but those climbing the volcano tomorrow need to set some time aside to check the gear. Before dinner, we will visit the on-site cheese farm and taste some local wine of course.
Total KM: 160

DAY 14
Pucon is an outdoor mekka full of activities so it might be hard to choose which ones suit your desire. If you simply feel like taking time off and enjoying the nature around the hotel then choose fishing, kayaking, floating and many other activities already included in the hotel stay. Or choose one of the optional activities:
Option 1: Climb an active volcano. You set off early to be first on the top. The four-hour hike will be guided by a professional team. No special skills or fitness levels are needed. The trip down is much faster as it is done on a small sledge!
Option 2: Take a helicopter to the well-hidden hot springs and take a dip there. Afterward, do a loop over the Volcano where your fellow adventures fight to get to the top. Back to the hotel where you have plenty of time to enjoy the spa or some of the other activities.
Option 3: A helicopter flight over a Volcano: Up into the skies on a scenic helicopter flight over a tableau of lakes, forests, and mountains. Look down into the lava crater of the Villarrica Volcano. A simply sensational experience. In the early evening, we will go to visit a Mapuches home to see their view on life and explore their food culture.
Total KM: 0

DAY 15
Today we will not have the most spectacular driving day. It will be a long run on the Pan-American highway, lets call it a transit day. Feel free to do “fruit of the day shopping” along the road. Watch the speed as it is easy to go too fast today and many speed controls. The majestic Villarrica Volcano marks actually the end of Patagonia but we do not stop here but keep heading north. Our destination is located within the best wine region of Chile. You will find our own beautiful wine estate surrounded by more than a thousand hectares. You will feel embraced by the surroundings and can enjoy a very unique hot-tub. A comprehensive wine tasting before we enjoy a local hunting menu is waiting.
Total KM: 552

DAY 16
The navigation is a challenge today… but you will enjoy the pleasant feeling of the Pacific beach shores while finding your own spot to enjoy your small lunch. The route passes along the “fruit-road” over small narrow gravel mountain passes. As big busy capitals are not our first choice we stay south of Santiago de Chile where we will lodge in one of the most spectacular properties in all of Chile and aim to arrive early. The whole roof structure is made out of titanium as a start! The classic rally results will be announced and celebrated at our well-deserved farewell dinner where it is time to say “see you next time” to all the similar-minded adventurers, whom you have shared this unique experience with.
Total KM: 323

DAY 17
This marks the end of this once-in-a-lifetime endeavour…. It is time to leave South America. Depending on your flight schedule, you will be shuttled to the airport of Santiago de Chile. Alternatively, take some extra days to relax in the area or it can be you want to go further north. Even flying to the amazing Iguazu waterfalls in the jungle between Brazil and Argentina could be an option...
