You have to do something special these days to stand out in the ever-growing crowd of Porsche restomods and reimaginings, and with one of its now numerous creations in particular, Danish car company Kalmar Automotive is doing just that.

The Kalmar 7-97 is available in several forms, each taking either a 964 or 993 911 as a base, and transforming it into a bespoke new entity. But there is one Kalmar creation in particular that catches the eye more than any other Porsche restomod.

Goodwood Road & Racing had a chance to experience the EVO in action in the kind of harsh environment it was built for. The bitter ice flats of Lapland are far from welcoming, yet Kalmar’s rally creation transforms a pretty uninviting landscape into a controlled, almost playful environment where traction, balance, and driver input matter more than surface conditions.

This is not a car defined by numbers on a spec sheet. It is defined by how it behaves when conditions turn unpredictable. On ice, the EVO shows its intent clearly: stability at the limit, progressive weight transfer, and steering that communicates every shift in traction. It rewards commitment, not caution.

Did it show its best? In Lapland, yes — because this is exactly where it belongs.
