The Trans-Andes was one of the most ambitious expeditions ever created by KALMAR Beyond Adventure — and remains so to this day. Over 39 days and more than 11,000 kilometres, the expedition took participants from Lima, Peru, to Ushuaia at the southern tip of Argentina, crossing some of South America’s most spectacular and remote landscapes behind the wheel of specially prepared Porsches.
The route was designed as a true overland expedition, far beyond a conventional driving tour. It combined remote mountain roads, high-altitude passes, gravel tracks, desert landscapes and vast open spaces, leading participants through some of the most extraordinary environments on the continent.

From the endless landscapes of the Atacama Desert and the surreal salt flats of Salar de Uyuni to the shores of Lake Titicaca, the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu and the wild landscapes of Patagonia, the Trans-Andes revealed the incredible diversity of South America. Between these iconic destinations, the expedition followed lesser-known roads, remote trails and places rarely experienced by visitors.
The journey was completed in specially prepared Porsche 911s and Porsche Cayennes, built to handle the challenges of thousands of kilometres across constantly changing terrain. Combining the character of classic Porsche engineering with the capability required for extreme exploration, these cars proved that a sports car could go far beyond the limits normally expected of it.
More than just a route across a continent, the Trans-Andes represented the philosophy at the heart of KALMAR Beyond Adventure: going beyond the ordinary, exploring places where few others travel, and creating driving experiences where the road itself becomes the greatest part of the adventure.
Recently, the epic Trans-Andes expedition was also featured in Porsche Panorama, the official magazine of the Porsche Club of America, bringing the story of this extraordinary journey to one of the world’s largest communities of Porsche enthusiasts.
