Beyond Adventure RS
The Rally Special Icon
The Beyond Adventure RS, short for Rally Special, is a sports car that’s capable of going almost anywhere, for hundreds of hours and thousands of kilometres.
With the task of creating a sports car that could drive over frozen lakes, traverse across mountains yet could tackle racing circuits worldwide, the Beyond Adventure RS was born. The motivation of building the perfect car that would suit every automotive-enthused adventurer was key, and the passionate team at Beyond Adventure accepted the challenge. Now, the Beyond Adventure RS is exclusively purpose-built for every customer’s wildest automotive exploration journey.
The bespoke specifications allow the Beyond Adventure RS to explore extreme environments while consisting of the elements necessary for a durable rally car suitable for anything from desert driving to exploring on ice. The Beyond Adventure RS can be converted for any adventure with simple corrections, making it able to take on any terrain and challenges ahead.
As with all Beyond Adventure Safari Range cars, each car can be infinitely individualised, with options tailored to each driver and application. Only the client’s imagination is the limit of what the Beyond Adventure RS can do, with the focus on weight reduction, safety, and individualism. Whether aiming to conquer deserts or excel on a snowy mountain, the blend of iconic design and modern-day functionality creates the perfect all-rounder, excelling in both off-road driving and ice racing experiences, consisting of all the necessary elements for a durable, reliable, and immensely impressive, thrilling car.
The Beyond Adventure RS is based on Porsche 964 or 993, both as C2 and C4, and can be created in left- and right-hand drive.
The Exterior
The best of what was developed over 40 years ago is kept, and all upgrades are made to take the donor car from a classic sports car to a very capable rally and off-road tool. All aspects of the exterior have intentional design or performance benefits to enhance functionalities to meet the client’s idea of perfection. The entire appearance is finished off with a livery made together with the customer, to ensure that this car really stands out from the masses.
Rally-specification features include a higher ground clearance for the most uncharted journeys, accomplished through a combination of larger off-road tyres, Beyond Adventure shock absorbers, and spaced subframes. Complete underbody protection makes almost every obstacle possible to conquer, and the roof-mounted combined jerry can and tyre carrier extends the driving range and accommodates extra tyres. All these aspects benefit the driver by providing extra (essential) storage space for extreme exploring, all able to be altered to a customer’s specific taste and necessity, following Beyond Adventure’s main ethos of providing customers with their vision of the perfect car.
The Beyond Adventure RS is more of a utility machine than a visual piece of art, therefore a base conversion doesn’t include carbon fibre bodywork. For drivers looking to add lightness, then the fully restored Beyond Adventure RS-R is the perfect model.
The Interior
With distinctive features available for each individual Beyond Adventure RS, it starts by realising the true meaning behind the RS – light weight and durability for endurance. Specified to have a spartan interior with light yet luxurious and comfortable Recaro race seats and only essentials included to fulfil this lightweight yet durable ethos. The as-standard weight reduction makes up for the added weight of the protection and safety gear fitted to all Beyond Adventure RS’, such as a rear roll bar and extra-light Recaro seats are an absolute necessity for long trips across harsh environments. The removal of all noise insulation further enhances the atmosphere of a raw cockpit, the roar of the engine generating an authentic air-cooled experience in every way possible.
Reducing the weight further is also possible through the removal of the air-conditioning system, if necessary, especially if rallying to an extreme level is the goal. Further rally-specific competition equipment such as a full roll cage, a fly-off handbrake and trip-master timing systems are also available and can be included, should they be required.
The Technical Specifications
The bespoke build process of the Beyond Adventure programme is not just about looking tough, all upgrades have a reason.
The engine specifications available are broad, starting with the standard Porsche 3.6-litre engine. There are multiple tuning levels to choose from capable of achieving 265 to 300 hp, depending on the customer’s plan for the car. The included limited-slip differential ensures traction across all surfaces.
It is the suspension where most work has gone into. The height increase of eight cm results in a total ground clearance of 20 cm, equivalent to a standard Porsche Cayenne. This has been achieved with bespoke adjustable shock absorbers, subframe drops and specially engineered spring plates (Porsche 964) and top mounts. The team also added an enhanced strut brace to distribute high loads in the front suspension.
As the entire suspension works in a different than OEM range, all bushes will be replaced as they will not last long after a Beyond Adventure lift. Same goes for the driveshafts that run higher-than-OEM angles and will need upgrading.
All these technical elements of the Beyond Adventure RS are rounded off by the custom suspension set-up without the OEM rear anti-roll bar, allowing the models to explore the terrain of any element, purpose-built for every customer’s wildest automotive exploration journey.
The unique lightweight narrow rims paired up with the all-terrain or the WRC spike winter tyres never fail to impress the drivers. Just like the auxiliary light spots do make up for the rather poor classic headlights found on the original donor car.
Options
There is no limit as to how far the Beyond Adventure Safari Range specifications can go, and how extreme the climates are that it can venture.
With each Beyond Adventure RS being bespoke, a customer can have unique elements that mean it can explore on- and off-road, as a reliable day-to-day car and as a supreme adventurer.
