Our team has just returned from Namibia, wrapping up the final recce ahead of this summer’s adventure. The routes are set, the logistics are in place, and everything is ready to welcome those who want to experience this remarkable country from behind the wheel of a safari-prepped sports car.
Over the past days, we revisited every section of the route, checked accommodations, met with local partners and made sure every detail meets the Beyond Adventure standard. The result is a journey that combines spectacular driving with some of the most memorable landscapes and wildlife encounters Africa has to offer.
A highlight was spending time in Etosha National Park. Zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and even a rhino appeared as if on cue. At one lodge, wildlife wandered close to the waterhole just metres from where dinner was being served, creating one of those moments that no photograph can truly capture. As the sun set over the bush, animals arrived one after another to drink, turning an ordinary dinner into a front-row seat to one of Africa’s greatest wildlife shows.
And then there are the roads. We drove them all, from fast gravel stretches to remote tracks that seem to disappear into the horizon. The verdict? They’re every bit as impressive as the scenery. In fact, we can confidently say the roads are as good as the hotels and the locals’ English—which, in Namibia, is saying something.
What makes Namibia particularly special is the variety. One day you’re driving across wide-open desert landscapes, the next you’re passing through wildlife-rich areas or remote settlements where it feels like the modern world has barely arrived. Traffic is almost non-existent, the views stretch for miles, and every day feels completely different from the last.
Most importantly, the recce confirmed what we’ve believed from the start: Namibia is one of the best driving destinations in the world. Vast open spaces, incredible wildlife, welcoming people and roads that seem purpose-built for adventure driving make it a place unlike anywhere else.
